We specialize in the design and manufacturing of toroidal power transformers, current sensing transformers (CT's) and inductors. Most of our products utilize cores made of grain oriented silicon steel strips by Alpha-Core, and for high frequency applications, powdered iron or ferrite cores.
Since no dedicated tooling is required to produce a toroidal transformer, many of our customers have found that our custom designed transformers and chokes can be a cost effective solution also in quantities as low as 100 pieces. Our proprietary, programmable, high-speed toroidal winding machines help us offer low prices also for small to medium size orders. Our low factory overhead and overall efficiency in our manufacturing operation also contribute to our price competitiveness.
The CUSTARD™ line of power transformers is based on our stock of standard cores already wound with 117/234V, 50/60Hz primaries and ready for secondary winding(s) and termination as specified by you.
In addition to using regular toroidal cores wound from strips of constant width grain-oriented silicon steel from Alpha-Core you may want to consider transformers with Alpha-Cores new O-Core, made from the same quality of silicon steel. Its circular cross-section reduces the overall size and weight of the finished toroidal transformer. Depending on the VA rating you will find a 15 to 30% reduction of overall size.
